The show “Army Wives”, Cast, Pictures, and Trivia!
This is a series about the lives of four very different women and one man, who all have one common bond, a spouse who is in the United States Army.
The series is set at the fictional base of Fort Marshall in South Carolina. The group all happen to be in the same place at a very crucial moment and that is when one of the wives, Pamela Moran (Brigid Brannagh) goes into labor at a place called, “The Hump Bar”. She ends up giving birth on the pool table, uniting them all together and beginning closeness between them all, that only deepens as time goes by.
Roxy LeBlanc (Sally Pressman)-Roxy has only recently moved to Fort Marshall, as she has just married Private First Class Trevor LeBlanc, (Drew Fuller) after a whirlwind courtship of only four days. Despite knowing each other for such a short time, they both seem to be very much in love with each other. She has two young sons, T.J. (Luke Bartelme & Connor Christie) and Finn (John White, Jr.) from two different past relationships. T.J. is the result of her getting pregnant to her high school sweetheart, Jesse, at seventeen. After they marry, Jesse becomes a drinker and abusive, and ends up punching Roxy when she is six months pregnant, leaving her with only one solution, to leave him. She later starts a relationship with an old friend from childhood, Whit. She gets pregnant with Finn but the two never marry. Raised by a single mother in Alabama, with whom she has a somewhat love-hate type of relationship, due to her mother’s history of drinking, and having never known her father, Roxy has basically been on her own for most of her life. After her arrival on base she is finding her adjustment to military life somewhat difficult, so she takes a job at a place called, The Hump Bar. While at her first division banquet on post, she meets three of the four people who will soon become major forces in her new life. Claudia Joy Holden, (Kim Delaney) Denise Sherwood, (Catherine Bell) and Dr. Roland Burton (Sterling K. Brown). A short time later at a tea party hosted by Claudia Joy, she meets Pamela Moran (Brigid Brannagh) who will become her closest friend and confidante.
Claudia Joy Holden (Kim Delaney)-Claudia Joy is the wife of Colonel Michael Holden (Brian McNamara). They have two daughters, Amanda (Kim Allen) and Emmalin (Caroline Pires & Katelyn Pippy). Claudia Joy comes from an upper-class family and is the daughter of a judge. Due to pressure from her father she studied law in college, but despite exceling at it, never finished her studies due to an accident during her third year. After falling asleep at the wheel, she hit and killed a pedestrian, and though no charges were filed, she made the decision to drop out anyway. Soon after, she meets recent West Point graduate, Michael Holden (Brian McNamara) and they marry. They have been together for seventeen years and have always been happy together. She and Michael are very close to the Sherwoods, as Denise and Claudia Joy have been best friends for years, and Frank and Michael have also served together for many years. The families first met when they were both stationed at Fort Carson.
Denise Sherwood (Catherine Bell)-Denise is the wife of Major Frank Sherwood (Terry Serpico). His affectionate nickname for her is “Dee”. They have one son, Jeremy, (Richard Bryant) and later, after many years have passed, they also have a baby girl named, Molly. Denise is what is commonly referred to as a “military brat” and has several siblings. She met her husband while working as a nursing student near Fort Bliss and they married soon after, so she never finished the qualifications she needed to get her degree. She has recently finished earning her nursing degree after all these years, and begins to work in a hospital on post. Unfortunately, this creates tension between her and Frank.
Pamela Moran (Brigid Brannagh)-Pamela is the red-haired, tough, best friend of Roxy. She is married to Chase Moran, (Jeremy Davidson) who quickly becomes a member of Delta Force, and they have two children together, Katie (Chloe J. Taylor) and Lucas (Jake Johnson). At the beginning of the show Pamela is pregnant again, but what no one knows is that she is actually acting as a paid surrogate, due to her and Chase’s overwhelming debt. The surrogacy is kept private, but when Pamela goes into premature labor at The Hump Bar, several of the other spouses are there, and they are soon let in on the truth, bonding the five of them together permanently. She and Chase have other problems as well, mostly because of his many absences, due to his involvement with Delta Force.
Dr. Dr.Roland Burton (Sterling K. Brown)-Roland is the husband of Lt. Col. Joan Burton (Wendy Davis). After returning from recent deployments, it quickly becomes clear that she has PTSD and due to this, her and Roland’s relationship suffers. As a result, Roland has a one-night stand with a reporter who was visiting the base. After confessing his mistake to Joan, there is talk of divorce, but they decide to stay together. Joan receives treatment for her PTSD and things improve between the two. Roland is a psychiatrist, and later becomes a counselor as well. He is the only “Army husband”, but seems to fit in with the other women quite well.
This show grabs you almost immediately. It looks at life in the military, but obviously focuses most of its attention on the lives and problems of military spouses. The characters are interesting and vastly different from one another, leading to varied storylines. And the actors seem to fit into their characters quite well. I give this show 6 out of 10.
